City of Arlington to Recognize National Pee Wee Football Champions by Cheryel Carpenter Mayor Robert Cluck and the Arlington City Council will proclaim Tuesday, Jan. 18 as National Champion Arlington Thunder Day. A reception for the Arlington Thunder Pee Wee Football Team will occur at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 at the Arlington Municipal Building, 101 W. Abram St. Following the reception, at 6:30 p.m., the Mayor and City Council will issue a proclamation to the team in recognition of their accomplishment. "The City of Arlington is proud to have a national championship pee wee football team in our city," the mayor said. "They have represented our city, community and state with discipline, integrity and good sportsmanship." Head Coach Ted Erhardt and the Arlington Thunder Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee Football Team traveled to Orlando, Fla. on December 6 and won the Pop Warner National Championship Division II national title. They defeated the Tri-Town Raiders from Michigan (15-14) in a game which was televised nationally on ESPN2.
