Detours Expected as Railroad Upgrades Begin in the Great Southwest Industrial District

Beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, motorists should expect detours on Great Southwest Parkway between Abram Street and Division Street in Arlington.

The Union Pacific Railroad will be replacing an uneven railroad crossing at Great Southwest Parkway. This section of Great Southwest Parkway is scheduled to reopen by 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 12.

This railroad crossing upgrade on Great Southwest Parkway is the first of 24 crossings scheduled for repair in the first three months of the new year, according to Traffic Signal Analyst Mike Blake. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and seek alternate routes such as State Highway 360 and Carrier Parkway in Grand Prairie.

For more information about this project, call Mike Blake in the Department of Public Works/Traffic Engineering at 817-459-6356.
