Interim Deputy City Managers Appointed

Interim City Manager Fred Greene announced today the appointment of two interim deputy city managers.

Greene is appointing Trey Yelverton as the deputy city manager for community resources. Yelverton is currently the City’s director of Neighborhood Services. Greene is appointing Fiona Allen as the deputy city manager for administration. Allen is currently the director of the City’s Water Utility. Greene has been appointed by the City Council as interim city manager, while the City conducts a national search for the permanent replacement of City Manager Chuck Kiefer who retires as of January 3, 2005.

Yelverton has been with the City since 1993 and has been Neighborhood Services director since 2000. His responsibilities have included oversight of the Arlington Housing Authority and Neighborhood Services, which includes Environmental Health, Animal Services, Sanitary Landfill/Garbage/Recycling, and Code Enforcement. Yelverton has an undergraduate degree in Political Science/Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of North Texas.

Allen has been with the City’s Water Utilities Department since 1990 and has been the director of the department since 2003. Previously, she held the positions of civil engineer, field operations manager, assistant director for operations, and assistant director for business services. Allen has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University.

"Both Fiona and Trey have a broad knowledge of the organization, and they have the management talent that we will need over the next several months," Greene said. "I have every confidence that they will do an excellent job."

Allen and Yelverton will assume their new posts effective January 3, 2005.
