City Manager Announces Appointment of New Deputy

City Manager Chuck Kiefer announced today the appointment of Ron Olson as Deputy City Manager for Citizen Services.

Olson has 26 years of municipal government experience and is currently the City Manager of Middletown, Ohio, which has a population of 54,766. He has been in the position since 1992. Prior to Middletown, Olson was the City Manager of Belding, MI and West Jordan, Utah.

"The City is fortunate to have been able to hire someone with Ron’s extensive experience in local government," Kiefer said.

Olson said he was looking forward to the opportunities in Arlington.

"I am very excited about this opportunity and anxious to get to work. My family and I are looking forward to our move to Arlington."

Olson has a Bachelor of Science degree and a master’s degree in public administration from Brigham Young University. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association and the Ohio City Management Association, and he is on the board of the Middletown Economic Development Corporation.

Olson is expected to assume his new post in late November with an annual salary of $135,000.
