Two Assistant City Attorneys Earn Special International Designation

Assistant City Attorneys Elizabeth Lutton and Teris Solis will be recognized next month as outstanding legal specialists in the field of local government law.

Lutton and Solis have earned 2004 Local Government Fellow designations from the International Municipal Lawyers Association. The program encourages attorney proficiency and competency in local government law. Applicants for the program must satisfy certain established requirements and complete a two-part written examination. Successful candidates receive a certificate and IMLA Local Government Fellow designation.

The designations will be conferred on Tuesday, Oct. 5 in San Antonio during the IMLA national conference.

The Local Government Fellows Program is administered by IMLA. Its criteria combines peer review, education and involvement in the practice of local government law with examination and certification.

Lutton has been with the City of Arlington since 1995 and works in the areas of labor and employment law. Solis joined the City of Arlington in 1991 and works in the area of contract law.

According to City Attorney Jay Doegey, who is also an IMLA Fellow, the Arlington City Attorney’s Office has more IMLA Fellows than any other IMLA member law office in the U.S. and Canada. Other IMLA Fellows from the Arlington City Attorney’s Office are Frank Waite, Jeanene McIntyre and Ivan Bland.
