For a complete listing of programs and activities, go to www.pub-lib.ci.arlington.tx.us or call Library Development Officer Andi Davis at 817-459-6924.PALS Bully Prevention Program for Kids – 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Lake Arlington Branch Library PALS is an elementary and junior high school program that explores the causes and effects of bullying, various myths of peer abuse and non-violent solutions. Activities include a bully bingo and other interactive games. This free program will be presented by the Women’s Shelter at the Lake Arlington Branch Library from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 28. Call 817-478-3762 to reserve your child’s space. The September Project – All Arlington Public Libraries The Arlington Public Library will be participating in a nation wide collective event on September 11 called The September Project. It is a day to come together to discuss and share ideas about democracy, patriotism and citizenship. In partnership with Arlington's League of Women Voters, the library will host voter registration programs. Arlington residents can register to vote from the library’s home web page. All public libraries have Tarrant County voter registration cards. Kid Connection – 11 a.m. every Saturday in September - Northeast Branch Library Children ages 7 to 12 are invited to spend a fun-filled hour of their Saturday mornings at the Northeast Branch Library. Stories, poems and songs begin at 11 a.m. Coming in September:
Northeast Arlington Reading Group Join this lively book discussion. Coming in September and October: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 9 – Lone Star Literature by Don Graham The 2004 One Book, One Arlington selection is an anthology of the best literature in the Lone Star State. Don Graham, Betsy Berry, Rolando Hinojosa Smith, James Hoggard, Elmer Kelton, and Clay Reynolds will be in Arlington on Friday, October 1 to celebrate the culmination of the City’s One Book, One Arlington program. 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 14 – Wicked by Gregory Maguire Read about Elphaba, the young girl who grows up to be the Wicked Witch of the West in Oz. |
