The Arlington Public Library joins the Public Library Association, a division of the American Library Association, and public libraries across the country to promote "The Smartest Card @ Your Library" campaign."Your library card is your ticket to opportunity," said City of Arlington Director of Libraries Cary Siegfried. "What other card in your wallet gives you free access to books and CDs, magazines and movies and all sorts of other resources that can change your life - or just make it a little more fun?" Public libraries are partners for vibrant and educated communities, Siegfried said. Throughout the month, the Arlington Public Library will be promoting National Library Card Sign Up Month via CITY 5, the City of Arlington cable channel, newsletters and web site, where messages have been translated in Spanish and Vietnamese. For more information on how you can sign up for a library card, visit any Arlington Public Library or call 817-459-6900 and select Option No. 2. Since 1987, the Library Card Sign-up Month campaign has been reminding parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all.Who can get a Library Card?
How to Get a Library Card: An application form must be obtained from the Circulation Desk at any Arlington Public Library. The completed application, as well as an acceptable form of identification and address verification must be presented at the time of application. Since the application form is a contract between the patron and the library, the parent or legal guardian of minor children under the age of 18 must be present to sign the application. |
