817-459-6404 Trinity River Trash Bash Pre-Registration Deadline Approaching The 13th Annual Trinity River Trash Bash volunteer pre-registration deadline is approaching. The deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 14 and organizers are making one final push to recruit volunteers. Parks Operations Manager Cory Styron is a lead organizer. He says pre-registration will help organizers ensure the availability of volunteers and supplies at each location. "The four sites are strategically located throughout the city. We wanted to take the project as close to neighborhoods as possible. This is an opportunity for everyone to participate," Styron said. To pre-register, call 817-446-8386 or download a registration form from the City of Arlington Web site at www.ci.arlington.tx.us. The Trinity River Trash Bash is Saturday, Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. This year, volunteers can choose one of four locations, including River Legacy Parks East, which is located on the Trinity River. Volunteers will also be working in Village Creek, and creeks in Bob Cooke Park and F.J. Red Kane Park, which flow into the Trinity River. This is the second year that tributaries of the Trinity River have been a part of the annual cleanup event. This year’s event will also include refreshments and an environmental message for all volunteers prior to the cleanup. The Trinity River Trash Bash is organized annually by the North Central Texas Council of Governments, the Trinity River Authority, Keep Texas Beautiful and Metroplex area environmental organizations. Since the program started 13 years ago, there have been more than 60,000 volunteers and an estimated 800,000 pounds of debris picked up along the banks of the Trinity River and its tributaries. |
