I-20 Traffic to Take Service Roads in Arlington on Aug. 14 and 15
Contractors to install beams to support new Collins Street Bridge

Eastbound and westbound traffic on Interstate 20 near the Collins Street exit will be re-routed onto the service roads on Saturday, Aug. 14 and Sunday, Aug. 15. Contractors will be installing beams to support a new Collins Street bridge over I-20 in south Arlington.

Project Engineer David Parrish said electronic message boards and signage in Grand Prairie and Fort Worth will advise motorists to expect the service road detours.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, all eastbound and westbound traffic on I-20 in the area of Collins Street will be diverted, Parrish said.

Northbound and southbound Collins Street, from Arbrook Boulevard to Bardin Road, will also be closed Aug. 14 and Aug. 15.

I-20 is scheduled to re-open by 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15.

When this $3.7 million project is complete, two bridges will carry northbound and southbound traffic over I-20 on Collins Street. This project is scheduled for completion in December 2004.
