City Manager Chuck Kiefer announced some temporary staff changes today.

The City is conducting a national search for a Public Works Director to replace Mike Hasler, who is retiring on July 4 after 28 years of service. While the search is being conducted, some executive staff members will be temporarily reassigned. Parks and Recreation Director Pete Jamieson will be the interim Public Works Director, and Convention and Event Services Director Nadine Felix will be acting Parks and Recreation Director. Assistant Convention Center Director Mark Wisness will be the acting Convention and Events Services Director.

As Parks Director, Jamieson has significant experience working with the development community, with whom the Public Works Director must interact. Additionally, Jamieson, who has been with the City for 23 years, has experience managing a large department with varied functions, much like Public Works.

Felix, who has been with the City since April 2000, has experience in recreation. She was Deputy Director of San Jose’s Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department; Student Union Operations Manager at the UCLA; and Executive Director and Student Center Director at the University of Southern California.

Wisness has twenty years experience in convention center management. He has been with the City for the last 7 years and was a manager with the Dallas Convention Center for 13 years before coming to Arlington.

These executive staff members are expected to remain in these temporary appointments until late fall.
