Interim Deputy City Manager Appointed

City Manager Chuck Kiefer has appointed Fred Greene to be the City of Arlington’s interim deputy city manager for Citizen Services.

Greene will be taking over the position vacated on June 11, when David Kunkle retires from the City of Arlington to become the police chief for the City of Dallas. Greene has more than 30 years of public sector experience with the cities of Sherman, Garland, and Arlington.

In Sherman, Greene was director of information systems, and he was city manager, assistant city manager, and public works administrator for the City of Garland. While in Arlington from 1985-95, Greene was director of information systems and management services director.

Greene retired from the City of Arlington and has been a public sector consultant for the last eight years.

He will be managing the Police Department, Fire Department, Neighborhood Services Department, the Library System, and Internal Audit. Greene will be a temporary City employee making $10,000 per month.
