The City of Arlington is giving away free mulch. The Arlington Sanitary Landfill has about 400 tons of combination leaf and tree mulch to give to Arlington residents at no cost.

The Arlington Sanitary Landfill has about 400 tons of mulch. The mulch comes from recycled Christmas trees and last fall’s "Don’t Bag It" leaf recycling program.

Recycling Coordinator Lorrie Anderle said mulch is good flower bed ground cover and can help retain moisture in the lawn and garden when used as a soil amendment.

According to Solid Waste Manager Allen Jones, Christmas tree and leaf recycling extends the life of the landfill. He said recycling the materials and giving away the mulch frees up approximately 3,000 cubic yards of space in the landfill.

How to Get Free Mulch
