Mike Hasler, director of the City’s Public Works Department, announced today that he will be retiring as of July 4.

Hasler has been with the City for 28 years and has held the positions of city engineer, assistant director of the Capital Improvements Department, and director of the Transportation Department. He became director of Public Works last year when the Transportation and Engineering Departments were consolidated.

Hasler said he had enjoyed working for the City.

"The City is an incredible place to work," Hasler said. "But I am ready to make a change and this is a good time for me to do it.

"The consolidation of the Public Works Department is complete, and I have very capable staff members working with me," he said. "I couldn’t leave the department in better hands."

City Manager Chuck Kiefer said he appreciated Hasler’s contributions to the City.

"Mike has had a long and distinguished career with the City, and has made significant contributions toward improving both the City’s street infrastructure and mobility," Kiefer said.

An executive search firm will be hired to assist in identifying Hasler’s replacement.
