The Curbside Tree Recycling Program begins Wednesday, Jan. 7 north of Park Row Drive in Arlington.  On Thursday, Jan. 8 curbside tree recycling will begin south of Interstate 20. In neighborhoods located between Park Row Drive and Interstate 20, trees will be collected at curbside on Friday, Jan. 9.

Calloway’s Nursery locations at 4940 S. Cooper St. and 900 Lincoln Square Circle are Christmas tree drop-off sites for residents wanting to recycle early. In 2002, the City of Arlington collected and recycled nearly 250 tons of Christmas trees.

The mulch from this year’s program will be given away in the spring. Before you recycle your Christmas tree: Remove all lights, ornaments and tree stands, including wooden stands and nails. Do not place the tree in a plastic bag. Flocked trees will be acceptable. Separate your tree from your regular garbage. Your tree will be collected on Jan. 7, 8 or 9 by a separate truck after your regular garbage has been collected. Garbage and Recycling HolidaySchedules If your regular curbside recycling day is Thursday, Dec. 25, the make-up day will be Saturday, Dec. 27.  If your regular curbside recycling day is Thursday, Jan. 1, the make-up day will be Saturday, Jan. 3.  There will be no garbage or recycling collection services on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.  For more information about the curbside tree recycling program, call Arlington Disposal at 817-317-2000 or www.ci.arlington.tx.us.
