The City of Arlington will host a Winter Weather Response Coordination meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12. Officials will meet at the Ott Cribbs Public Safety Building at 620 W. Division St.

Although the first official day of winter is Dec. 22, it is not uncommon in the Metroplex to see winter precipitation in November, said Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Carter.

"This is an opportunity for the City of Arlington to review emergency operations response duties and strategies for effectively managing a severe winter storm event," Carter said.

The Nov. 12 meeting will include the Arlington Fire Department, Police Department, Public Works Department and National Weather Service. Roundtable group sessions will be organized to address transportation, water utility and gas services, human services and public information issues. Representatives from the American Red Cross, the Arlington Independent School District and the University of Texas at Arlington are also scheduled to attend.
