State Commission Presents Silent Hero Award to Arlington Telecommunicator by Cheryel Carpenter Telecommmunicator Alicia Kness has been presented the Silent Hero Award by the Commission on State Emergency Communications. Kness is one of about 60 Silent Hero Award recipients who represent public safety agencies from throughout the state. The award was presented Aug. 27 during the Texas Emergency Number Association State Conference in Plano. According to Communications Manager Jayme Cole, the Silent Hero Award recognizes outstanding individual telecommunicators whose daily performance and exceptional professionalism in the field of emergency communications improves service. "Alicia is an example of the high level of professionalism that exists within our department," Cole said. Communications Supervisor Dana Schell said Alicia is constantly looking for ways to make the emergency call take position more efficient. "She provides a high standard of customer service. It is employees like her that help us continue to achieve Arlington’s outstanding service reputation," Schell said. In addition to an outstanding work ethic, Kness has emerged as a team player. She is one of the founding members of Peers Encouraging Peers Team or PEP. Kness will be formally recognized by the Arlington City Council during the 6:30 p.m. October 7 meeting in Council Chamber. Kness has been with the City of Arlington Dispatch Services since November 1998. |
