The Arlington Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the Vision and Goals being proposed for Arlington in the year 2025. The public hearing will occur at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17. A second and final public hearing about the vision and goals for the city will occur at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, during the Arlington City Council meeting.

Arlington 2025 Project Manager John Taylor said the public is encouraged to attend one or both hearings, which will be conducted in the Council Chamber at 101 W. Abram St. Taylor said the vision and goals will provide the foundation for the development of the City’s strategic 2025 Comprehensive Plan.

The public hearings are part of the final phase of the 2025 community visioning process, which has been led by the City of Arlington and the Chamber of Commerce. Since January, extensive public input into the development of the proposed vision and goals has occurred throughout the City. This community visioning effort has involved the participation of more than 100 community organizations and input from approximately 1,000 individuals.

Last month, the City distributed surveys to obtain public comment on the proposed vision and goals, which have been described as essential in making the vision a reality in 2025. To date, more than 160 surveys have been completed and returned. The survey is online at Arlingtonforums.net and the deadline for entries is 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15.
