Public Hearings on the City Budget and Tax Rate to Occur Tuesday, Sept. 9

The Arlington City Council will conduct public hearings on the budget and tax rate at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Council Chamber, 101 W. Abram St.

The 2004 City budget is scheduled to be approved on first reading at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16. Second and final reading is scheduled to occur at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23. The budget and tax rate becomes effective on October 1.

Town Hall meetings in August gave the public five opportunities to have input into process. The Arlington City Council is expected to continue deliberations about the 2004 operating budget and tax rate weekly through Sept. 23.

Arlington residents can watch the Arlington City Council Work Session and Regular Meetings on CITY 5, the municipal government cable channel. These meetings are replayed during the week. For a CITY 5 programming schedule, go to www.ci.arlington.tx.us.

Arlington residents can view the proposed budget on the City’s Web site at www.ci.arlington.tx.us. Copies are also available at the George W. Hawkes Central Library or any branch library in the city.
