08/26/03	Public Hearings on the City Budget and Tax Rate to Occur Tuesday, Sept. 9 The Arlington City Council will conduct public hearings on the budget and tax rate at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Council Chamber, 101 W. Abram St.
08/26/03	Arlington Police Chief to Receive State Leadership Award Arlington Police Chief Theron Bowman will be presented the Outstanding Local Leader award by the John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute.
08/26/03	Labor Day Closings and Municipal Service Schedules in Arlington The Arlington Municipal Building, Municipal Office Tower and many other city offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, for Labor Day.

08/22/03	Call for Entries! Arlington Public Library Announces Student Essay Contest "Why I Love my Library Card" In recognition of National Library Card Sign-up Month in September, the Arlington Public Library announces its essay contest. The contest is open to students in grades one through six.
08/22/03	Call for Entries! Animal Essay Contest Begins Monday, Sept. 8 The Third Annual Arlington Animal Essay Contest starts September 8. The contest is open to public and private school students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 who reside within the city limits of Arlington. The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Committee Announces Its Annual "Sharing the Dream" Student Art and Essay Contests The Arlington Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee announces its annual Sharing the Dream Student Art and Essay Competitions. The entry deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, October 24.
08/15/03	City Council Calls Nov. 4 Bond Election for Streets and Traffic Management The Arlington City Council has called a special November 4 Bond Election. Arlington voters will be going to the polls to authorize $84.035 million in improvements for streets and transportation related projects. There are two propositions on the ballot. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

08/01/03	Arlington Libraries Celebrate Summer Reading Club Accomplishments Celebration is Saturday, Aug. 2 Arlington Public Libraries will celebrate the accomplishments of more than 2,300 youth who participated in the Summer Reading Club. The celebration is 4:15 - 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at The Parks at Arlington Mall.
