In recognition of National Library Card Sign-up Month in September, the Arlington Public Library announces its essay contest. The contest is open to students in grades one through six.

Animal Essay Contest Begins Monday, Sept. 8
The Third Annual Arlington Animal Essay Contest starts September 8. The contest is open to public and private school students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 who reside within the city limits of Arlington. The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.

The Arlington Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee announces its annual Sharing the Dream Student Art and Essay Competitions. The entry deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, October 24.

City Council Calls Nov. 4 Bond Election for Streets and Traffic Management
The Arlington City Council has called a special November 4 Bond Election. Arlington voters will be going to the polls to authorize $84.035 million in improvements for streets and transportation related projects. There are two propositions on the ballot.  Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
