The Bronze Quill Award of Merit was presented to the City of Arlington Office of Communication for the Shop Arlington multimedia information campaign.

The award was presented in Fort Worth on Tuesday, June 10, by the Fort Worth Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.

Launched in November 2002 prior to the Christmas holiday shopping season, the Shop Arlington campaign was developed to encourage Arlington residents to spend their dollars in Arlington.

The citywide campaign was a joint initiative of the City of Arlington and the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. Marketing Communications Manager Gerald Urbantke led the development of the campaign, which included public service announcements on cable television, newspaper advertisements, flyers, post cards and the development of a promotional package for area merchants.

The Fort Worth Chapter of the IABC is a not-for-profit association of professionals committed to improving the effectiveness of organizations through strategic communication.
