June 24 Public Meeting Seeks Input on Proposed I-30 Improvements by Cheryel Carpenter A public meeting will occur at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, to discuss proposed improvements to the Interstate 30 corridor between Oakland Avenue in Fort Worth and State Highway 161 in Grand Prairie. The meeting will occur at the North Davis Church of Christ, which is located at 1601 N. Davis Dr. in Arlington. Beginning at 6 p.m., the public will have an opportunity to view preliminary drawings of proposed projects. City and state officials estimate the entire project to cost about $100 million. The Arlington section of the I-30 Improvement Project is between North Cooper Street Street and Ballpark Way. According to Public Works Assistant Director Keith Melton, the City’s portion is estimated to cost about $5 million, which could be a part of a future bond election. This project is in its early stages of development. The design phase is scheduled for completion in 2004. Construction could start in 2005 or as soon as funding is available.
