Arlington’s First Catfish Roundup is Saturday, May 3 by Cheryel Carpenter Arlington will sponsor its first Catfish Roundup at noon Saturday, May 3, at the Cliff Nelson Recreation Center. The center is located at 4600 W. Bardin Road. In addition to the supply of fish already in the pond, Program Coordinator Thomas Swinden said 300 pounds of catfish are being added for the one-day event. At the Catfish Roundup, participants of all ages can compete for prizes, trophies and enjoy concessions until 4 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. Participants are asked to bring their own fishing pole. Trophies will be awarded to children in five age groups. The individual who catches the largest fish will be awarded the Arlington Cup trophy. Registration is occurring at all City recreation centers or on-site the day of the event. For more information, contact the Cliff Nelson Recreation Center at 817-561-2819. The City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department, the Parks at Arlington and the Arlington Star-Telegram are sponsors for the event. |
