Early Voting in Arlington City Election Continues Through Tuesday, April
29 by Cheryel Carpenter Early voting continues through Tuesday, April 29 for the May 3 Arlington City Election. At City Hall, the City Secretary’s Office is processing a record number of applications for mail ballots. This week, the number of applications for ballots by mail totaled 251. During a typical City election, the City receives an average of 20 applications for mail ballots. Voters can request a ballot by mail if they are age 65 or older, disabled, confined to jail or expect to be absent from the county during early voting and on Election Day. The last day to call and request an application for a mail ballot is April 25. Once a ballot by mail application is received and approved, the county will mail the ballot to the applicant. All returned ballots will be opened and counted on Election Day. This spring, Arlington voters will be electing a Mayor and City Council representatives from single-member districts 2, 3, 4 and 5. Voters also will be electing a City Council representative from at-large district 8. Election Day is Saturday, May 3. The polls open at 7 a.m and close at 7 p.m. For a listing of candidates, go to www.ci.arlington.tx.us and view the City Secretary’s Web page.
