High school students with an interest in volunteer service on a City Council appointed board or commission have until Friday, April 25 to return applications to the Office of the Mayor and Council. Eligible students must reside in Arlington and be a beginning junior or senior when the school year begins this fall.

Applications are available in the Office of the Mayor and Council at City Hall and in area high school and private school principal and counselor offices. The application is also online at http://www.ci.arlington.tx.us/volunteer/pdf/board_youth_application.pdf.

Charged with reviewing grant applications and forwarding recommendations to the City Council Arts Liaison Committee for a one-year term. Meets every fourth Thursday at 6 p.m.

Serves in an advisory capacity to the Library Director and the City Council on issues related to library services for a one-year term. Meets every fourth Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council on issues related to the acquisition, maintenance, operation and use of parks, playgrounds and open spaces in the city for a one-year term. Meets every second Monday at 6:30 p.m.

The application requires information about related extracurricular activities along with a brief description of why the youth applicant feels qualified to serve on a board.
