While most public and private schools are dismissing next week for the winter break, Arlington Mayor Elzie Odom hopes students will have time to visit City Hall.

Holiday Visits With the Mayor has been an annual government educational program since 1997. It allows Arlington school children the opportunity to meet with the mayor in his office and tour the Council Chamber at 101 W. Abram St.

This year, Mayor Elzie Odom will be available Thursday, Dec. 19 and Friday, Dec. 20.

While at City Hall, student visitors are also invited to study the Mayor’s Hall, a pictorial history of Arlington mayors past and present. Mayor Odom will meet and greet visitors of all ages, providing information, educational materials and holiday refreshments. Reservations are not required. Cameras are allowed.

In an effort to help local charities with food drives this holiday season, students are asked to bring a canned good to City Hall.
