City of Arlington Tennis Programs Manager Marcia Rodriguez has helped to establish the first wheel chair tennis scholarships at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Two $10,000 scholarships were awarded in October to female wheelchair tennis athletes Sarah Casteel and Jackie Bartels. Rodriguez is the current president of the United States Tennis Association - Texas Section.

"These scholarships will help us develop wheel chair tennis programs at the Tennis Center and recruit more athletes to our city," Rodriguez said.

The USTA Texas Section is the governing body for tennis in America and a not-for-profit organization with more than 47,000 members. Its mission is to promote and develop the growth of tennis in Texas. Rodriguez has been the City of Arlington since May 1987.
