Public Library Food for Fines Program Helps Those in Need

November 1, 2002

From November 1-30, the Arlington Public Library System will be collecting non-perishable food items to be donated to the Tarrant County Food Bank and Arlington Charities.

The public is invited to stop by the circulation desk at any branch location to drop off donations while checking out library items. During the food drive, donate a non-perishable food item and receive up to a $5 one-time reduction on any late fees or fines incurred between November 1 and November 30. During last year’s Food for Fines program, the City waived approximately $1,353 in fines and fees.

"We encourage the public to join us in this time of giving by donating to someone in need," said Public Services Administrator Christopher Brown.
