Arlington’s Millbrook Neighborhood to Receive New Street Sign Toppers by Cheryel Carpenter After November 4, finding the Millbrook neighborhood in northwest Arlington gets a little easier. The first of several blue and white street sign toppers with a sailboat logo will be installed at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 at the corner of Creekford and Millbrook Drive. "We place a lot of pride in our area and are pleased to have been able to work with the City of Arlington to increase the identity of our neighborhood," said Jim Fulgham, president of the Millbrook Homeowners Association. Funds were raised by the neighborhood association’s Beautification Committee. The signs were made and installed with the help of the City of Arlington Transportation and Neighborhood Services departments. The homes in Millbrook were built along a system of canals carved out of a tributary of Village Creek more than 25 years ago. The Millbrook area is in northwest Arlington and is bounded by Augusta on the north, Westwood on the south and Creekford and Waltham on the east and west. "One of the reasons we bought homes in this area was for the enjoyment of canal living - the boating, fishing, swimming, or bird life," Mr. Fulgham said. "There are no sailboats on the canal, but plenty of homeowners have paddleboats or canoes." According to Neighborhood Initiatives Coordinator Janie McGuigan, street sign toppers contribute to a neighborhood’s identity and uniqueness.
