Throughout the month of October, the East Arlington Branch Library will feature Voces Americanas/American Voices, a celebratory survey of works by Latinos. The exhibit takes a look at work in the past 30 years, through the images of authors, books, movie stills, public presentations and illustrations. The East Arlington Branch Library is located at 1624 New York Avenue.

Coinciding with the exhibit is a presentation by Gloria Velasquez, a poet and fiction writer who will visit the library on Saturday, Oct. 12 for the Annual Courtyard Celebration. Velasquez is the creator of the Roosevelt High School Series, which features adolescents of various ethnic backgrounds. Her presentation is made possible by the Arte Publico Press.

Voces Americanas/American Voices is funded by a Community Projects Grant from the Texas Council for the Humanities, which will also fund upcoming exhibits at the Northeast Branch Library in December, the George W. Hawkes Central Library in February, and the Woodland West Branch Library in April.
