Draining Improvements Require Two Day Closure of Shady Lane
A half-mile section of Shady Lane, from U.S. Highway 287 to Calendar Road in southeast Arlington, will be closed for two days, beginning Tuesday, July 30.

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce is hosting Policy Insider Updates with U.S. Representatives Joe Barton (R-Ennis) and Martin Frost (D-Arlington). Rep. Barton will speak on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 3:00 p.m. and Rep. Frost will speak on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 8:00 a.m.

Inclement weather forced the City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department to postpone its June 30 grand opening celebration of the Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center. The new date is Sunday, July 21.

Organized Public Awareness Campaign is Planned for Saturday, July 13

Grass clippings, paint, motor oil and trash are the most common types of pollutants being illegally dumped in neighborhood storm drain inlets. The pollutants go untreated into area creeks, lakes and streams.

More indoor swimming pools, neighborhood parks, children’s playgrounds, picnic pavilions, trails, gymnastic rooms and nature areas were among the highest ranked park facilities identified by citizens in a random telephone survey earlier this year.

National Cycling Event Promotes Awareness of People with Disabilities

The City of Arlington is expecting the arrival of about 35 cyclists on Monday, July 8. The rest stop in downtown Arlington at 11:30 a.m. is part of a 4,000-mile cross-country journey to raise awareness of people with disabilities. Last year, the event helped raise more than $300,000.

City of Arlington Human Resources Director Paulette Owens-Holmes has submitted her resignation to become the new Executive Director of Administrative Services for the City of McKinney. Her last day with the City will be July 19.
