The City of Arlington is accepting applications for its Arts and Cultural Grants program. The last day to apply is 5 p.m., Friday, May 31.

Funding is made possible from the City’s hotel and motel tax and a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts. In 2001, the City awarded $179,883 in grant funds to 21 local non-profit organizations.

Nonprofit groups are eligible to apply for grant money if their programs, performances and projects are scheduled to occur in Arlington between October 1, 2002 and September 30, 2003. Applicants are required to match in cash all funds provided by the grant. The City Council is scheduled to announce grant recipients in August.

Applicants must note that grant program policies and guidelines have been revised. Visit the City’s website for complete information about eligibility, application guidelines and criteria.

Applications are available in the City Manager’s Office, which is located on the third floor of the Arlington Municipal Building, 101 W. Abram St. and online at www.ci.arlington.tx.us. For more information about the Arts and Cultural Grant process, call Rudy Farias in the City Manager’s Office at 817-459-6111.
