A donation from an east Arlington elementary school will purchase about 3,000 pounds of dog and cat food, Arlington Animal Services officials say.

Amos Elementary School will present the City of Arlington Animal Services Division with a $836.67 gift card during a special presentation at 3 p.m. Friday, March 15 at the school, which is located at 3100 Daniel Dr.

Animal Services mascot Bowser Bob and a few animals from the shelter are scheduled to make an appearance at the school to thank the students for their contribution to the shelter, according to Animal Services Manager Mike Bass.

Physical Education Teacher Joyce Sinclair said the Pennies for Pets Program involved the entire school of 521 pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade students over a 10-day period. She led the effort to get everyone at the school involved in helping to meet a community need for support at the Animal Shelter.
