On Wednesday, March 27, Arlington public libraries will benefit from five percent of all sales generated at the Whole Foods Market at 801 E. Lamar Blvd.

City of Arlington Library Development Officer Andi Davis said proceeds from sales at Whole Foods Market will be donated to the Arlington Public Library Foundation as part of the retailer’s Community Giving Day. Whole Foods is among the world’s largest retailers of natural and organic foods.

The mission of the Arlington Public Library Foundation is to improve the collections, programs, resources and services of the Arlington Public Library System.

According to Davis, the foundation will use the donations from Whole Foods Market to support funding priorities such as children’s learning centers in public libraries, a new business service center and an access center for people with disabilities.

Most libraries exist because of funding from public sources, but it is private funds that allow public libraries to provide library offerings beyond those funded by tax dollars, Davis said.
