Arlington to Host Second Annual Teen Summit by Cheryel Carpenter The City of Arlington Teen Advisory Group in partnership with the Youth and Families Board will host Arlington’s second Teen Summit. From 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at the new Juan Seguin High School, students in grades nine through twelve will be able to voice their concerns and express ideas about youth issues in Arlington. More than 300 students are expected to attend the free event. Juan Seguin High School is located at 7001 Silo Road. According to lead summit coordinator Cynthia Chapman, the summit is designed to empower students to help make a difference in their schools, families and community. Four forums are planned throughout the day, allowing teens to discuss issues such as teen driving, drugs, alcohol and teen pregnancy, racial and religious acceptance and violence. Teen volunteer opportunities and college information will be available. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Participants will receive lunch, a T-shirt and an information pack. Door prizes will also be given away. The registration deadline is Wednesday, April 3. Registration forms are available at all Arlington area high schools and online at www.ci.arlington.tx.us.
