Nominations are being accepted for the City of Arlington 2001 Volunteer of the Year Award. The award recognizes outstanding volunteer service during 2001. Nominees must reside in the city of Arlington. The nominee’s volunteer service must have been performed in Tarrant County, but is not limited to the city in which the volunteer resides. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, March 8. Selections will be made by a panel of judges from Arlington.

To nominate a volunteer:

    • Describe the type of work the volunteer performs.
    • Describe how the nominee’s volunteer work benefits the community, neighborhood or non-profit organization.

Volunteers of the Year from each Tarrant County city will be recognized at a special awards ceremony on Thursday, May 16. The awards presentation will be followed by a reception and the annual United Way Awards and Volunteer Recognition Dinner.

For 15 years, the United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County has sponsored the Volunteer of the Year award program. The program provides each of the 37 cities in the county an opportunity to celebrate volunteers and the importance of volunteerism in the community.
