This spring, Arlington voters will be electing City Council members to represent single-member districts 1 and 2 and Council members to represent at-large districts 6 and 7.

Filing begins Tuesday, Feb. 19 for the Arlington City Election. The last day to file as a candidate for the City Election is 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 20. Applications are available in the City Secretary’s Office, which is located on the first floor of the Arlington Municipal Building at 101 W. Abram St.

New in 2002, early voters will be using touch-screen technology to cast votes, said City Secretary Cindy Kemp. Five early voting locations will be available.

"The goal is to use computer technology in all citywide elections, which allows us to reduce printing and paper costs while expediting counting and ensuring accurate results," Kemp said.

Early voting is April 17 to April 30. The polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. on Election Day May 4.
