Popular Holiday Exhibition Attracts Tourists from Near and Far

The holiday light displays at Interlochen in Arlington have begun. Beginning Friday, Dec. 15 through Christmas Day, from sundown to about 11 p.m., the City of Arlington will provide travel assistance to tourists in the area. There is no cost for admission.

During the holiday season, homeowners in this northwest Arlington subdivision join their neighbors in adorning their homes with festive lights and holiday exhibits. This neighborhood attracts spectators and tour groups from near and far.

The Traffic Division of the Arlington Police Department encourages buses to tour Interlochen beginning Friday, Dec. 15, when travel assistance through the area will be available. Larry Glover heads up the association of homeowners in Interlochen and can be reached at 817-261-1226 or 817-469-6096.

To help facilitate the safe flow of traffic in the area, the City of Arlington is assisting motorists with the following transportation routes and travel tips.

Entrance and Exit Routes:

The Arlington Police Department will set up command posts throughout the area to assist tourists. Motorists are encouraged to enter the Interlochen residential area from Westwood Street at Randol Mill Road.

From Interstate 30, motorists can exit Fielder Road and travel west on Randol Mill Road. Motorists can also exit Eastchase Parkway and travel east on Meadowbrook Boulevard. All other streets leading to the Interlochen area will be closed. Left turns will be prohibited at Bowen and Westwood and Westwood and Crowley. No U-turns will be allowed at Westwood and Findlay.

Travel Tips for a Safe and Enjoyable Tour Through Interlochen:

  • Service car engine and fill the gas tank to avoid problems.
  • Tourists are encouraged to visit during the week. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the busiest, more traffic-congested days.
  • Motorists are encouraged to be patient because traffic through the area will be slow.
  • Traffic must keep right at all times, leaving the left lane open for emergency vehicles and residents of Interlochen.
  • Pedestrian traffic is permitted.
