As part of a continuing commitment to neighborhoods, the City of Arlington announces its 2001-02 Neighborhood Grants Program. The program is in its second year of helping to stimulate community projects, which build stronger neighborhoods, leverage City funds, stimulate resident-driven solutions and build partnerships between the City of Arlington and its neighborhoods.

Eligible projects must be physical improvements that provide neighborhood benefit. Types of eligible projects may include the following: neighborhood entrance identification and beautification, playground and park improvements, public median enhancement, tree planting, landscaping, and street sign toppers.

Projects must be Community Development Block Grant-eligible. A typical grant may range from $500 to $10,000 and will be awarded to one project per organization per year.

Eligible organizations include neighborhood and homeowner associations and crime watch and citizen on patrol groups that are registered with Arlington’s Neighborhood Network.

Neighborhood Grant applications are due Jan. 31, 2002. The application is available online at www.ci.arlington.tx.us.

Should grant funds remain after the Jan. 31 deadline, they will be disbursed on a first-come, first-serve basis to eligible projects.

For more information or an application, contact the Department of Neighborhood Services - Office of Neighborhood Initiatives at 817-459-6250 or www.ci.arlington.tx.us.
