Motorists Should Expect Detours at Sublett and Silo Intersection by Cheryel Carpenter Approximately 1,000 feet of Silo Road, from Sublett Road to Valley Mills Drive, will be closed for five days beginning Thursday, Aug. 23 as construction crews begin excavation work at the Sublett and Silo Road intersection. Construction crews will excavate the north half of the Sublett Road intersection, lower a water line and install a new storm sewer. When the north half of the intersection is complete, traffic will be diverted to the north half of the intersection. Sublett Road will remain open to traffic at all times, but motorists should expect detours. Phase II of the construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Aug. 28 and requires the closure of 500 feet of Silo Road from Sublett Road to Benedict Lane for five days. Work crews will complete excavation work, water line and storm drain system improvements at the intersection. The Silo/Sublett Road intersection improvements are a part of the Sublett Road widening project. Sublett Road, from Aires Drive to New York Avenue, is being widened to a four-lane concrete street. The $6.8 million project is scheduled to be complete by April 2002. For more information about this project, contact Project Engineer Mindy Carmichael at 817-459-6552. |
