Applications are being accepted through 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31 for the third annual Arlington Neighborhood Academy. The purpose of the academy is to provide neighborhood leadership training, communication between citizens and their local government, and the basic tools for enhancing neighborhood involvement and overall effectiveness. There is no cost to enroll.

Two-hour evening sessions begin September 19 on consecutive Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Council Briefing Room, 101 W. Other sessions will address building durable neighborhood associations, developing neighborhood plans that work, accessing municipal government services, cultivating neighborhood diversity, conflict resolution, special event planning and funding solutions.

The academy concludes Tuesday, November 13 with the City Council presentation of certificates to participants who complete the academy.

"Whether your association is just getting started or has several years of experience under its belt, the academy offers innovative solutions for every stage of development," said Arlington Neighborhood Academy Coordinator Judy Bell.
