Starbucks Joy Drive
Last Friday, I challenged the City of Plano to a toy and book
collection challenge on behalf of the City of Arlington. Plano Mayor
Pro Tem Ken Lambert and I met at Cook Children’s Medical Center in
Fort Worth to begin this drive to collect presents for patients at
Cook Children’s in Fort Worth and Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
New, unwrapped toys and books are being collected at Starbucks
locations across the region through Christmas Day as part of an annual
gift drive. Ten stores in Arlington and Plano will tally their
presents.
The sole purpose of this effort is to bring joy and happiness to
hospitalized children in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex who can’t
spend the holidays at home this year. I hope that Arlington residents
will join together as we support the children of our community.
