Historic Preservation
Fund
The City of Arlington is currently accepting applications for
funding through the Historic Preservation Fund. The application
deadline is 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Cultural,
historical or tourism organizations with tax-exempt status are
encouraged to apply. The purpose of the fund is to foster
cooperative interaction between Arlington’s tourism industry and
heritage community. The goal is to benefit the public by increasing
awareness of the richness of the cultural and historic resources in
Arlington, as well as strengthening Arlington’s desirability as a
heritage tourism destination. Grants provided to eligible recipients
will fund projects that demonstrate that goal.

Local Landmark Program
The Landmark Preservation
Commission periodically takes applications for installation of City
of Arlington Local Historical Markers. The local marker provides a
means to recognize local landmarks and sites that have significance
in the history of Arlington and to make those landmarks and sites
easy to locate and recognize so that residents and visitors alike
may visit and enjoy them.

NEW Notice Related to 2005 and 2009 Wynn Terrace, Arlington, Texas
The City of Arlington is contemplating using Community Development Block Grant funds to demolish two City-owned vacant properties located at 2005 and 2009 Wynn Terrace. The properties have structural issues and meet the definition of spot blight. They are of unknown age and are not listed in the City’s Historic Resources Survey. As part of the environmental clearance process, the City discussed the proposed demolition with the Landmark Preservation Commission (LPC) at their meeting on December 13, 2012. LPC recommended that a notice be made available to the public with information about the proposed project.
