RENTAL ASSISTANCE :: SHELTER PLUS CARE PROGRAM (SPC)
Description
The Shelter Plus Care (SPC) program is a federally funded program
regulated by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD),
managed and operated in Arlington by the Arlington Housing Authority.
The purpose of the SPC program is to provide permanent housing in
connection with supportive services to homeless persons with
disabilities and their families.
Primary Target Populations include persons with:
- Serious mental illness
- Chronic problems with alcohol and / or drugs
- HIV / AIDS
Program Goals include:
- Residential Stability
- Increased skill level and or income
- Greater self determination

Criteria for Eligibility
Generally homeless persons are referred to the Arlington Housing
Authority for participation in the SPC program by agency partners that
provide emergency shelter and other supportive services to homeless
persons.
