EVICTION PREVENTION PROGRAM
The Eviction Prevention Program (EPP) is
a federally funded program designed to provide assistance to
eligible low income persons who reside in Arlington and are facing
eviction from rental housing. Federal funding for this program is
provided by the City of Arlington through the Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) program and the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG).
Program funds are issued directly to the landlord by the Arlington
Housing Authority following a determination of tenant eligibility
and written agreement by the landlord to stop the eviction process.
Description The Eviction Prevention
Program is designed to assist eligible low-income tenants pay past
due rent in the event of unforeseen hardship or extenuating
circumstances beyond their control. The program will pay up to one
months rent to the landlord to prevent the pending eviction.
The applicant must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the AHA that
the cause for the past due rent was beyond their ability to control
and demonstrate that they are able to meet future monthly rent
obligations. Likewise, the landlord must commit to participate in
the program, stop the eviction process, and allow the tenant to
remain in the rental unit under the terms of the existing lease
agreement. For additional information please
