WYLIE F. ALTMAN
4/2/1935-4/1/1947

Wylie F. Altman, was first elected mayor of Arlington in 1935.

He served until 1947 when he declined to run for re-election in favor of "going fishing."

He was born in 1872 in Searcy, Arkansas and came to Texas with his parents in a covered wagon when he was 6 years old.

 He was in the mercantile business for more than 50 years, establishing the Altman Ladies Store in Arlington in 1917.

Mr. Altman died June 15, 1950.
