  T. G. BAILEY

On
April 5, 1904, T. G. Bailey was elected mayor of Arlington.
He beat his opponent, J. P. Jones, 117-60. At the time of
the election, Bailey had lived in Arlington for 15 years. He
had served on the City Council for two years as an alderman
from the 3rd, Ward.
The Arlington Journal described Bailey as “…a gentleman
of the first order.” The newspaper added that Bailey ”… has
no extravagant promises to make but proposes to meet every
issue as it presents itself and do the very best he can for
the city in all things.
Mr. Bailey will make a strong clean race, and if elected
will make a safe and conservative mayor.” Bailey was mayor
from 1904 to 1906.
