John H. Pilant was born in Arlington, the ninth of twelve children.

As a young man he worked as a salesman for International Harvester. He married Eula Arnold, daughter of the George Arnolds, and at one time lived in the Arnold home place.

Mr. Pilant eventually built a brick home on West Abram St. He served Arlington during the 1930s as both councilman and Mayor.

He and his wife donated land for a street connecting Division and Abram which at one time was called Pilant St. It has since been named Stadium Drive East.
