City
of Arlington Recognizes Texas Quarter Designer
On
Tuesday, December 2, 2003 the City of
Arlington recognized artist Daniel Miller, the local resident who
designed the new commemorative Texas state quarter. Miller was
recently notified by the Governor’s office that his design has been
chosen as part of the 50 states quarter series.
"The Texas commemorative quarter will soon become part of our
nation’s coinage," Mayor Robert Cluck said. "I'm proud
that the design of Daniel Miller, an Arlington resident, has been
chosen for its artistic vision of our great state."

"The Texas quarter will reflect
an immense pride in our state shared by every Texan," said
Governor Rick Perry. "There will be no mistaking this quarter as
one that represents the Lone Star State."
The Texas quarter will be the third
commemorative issued in 2004. Michigan, Florida, Iowa and Wisconsin
will also be issued. The quarters will be distributed in the order in
which the states ratified the Constitution and joined the Union. Texas
was the 28th state to join the Union in 1845.
