Taxi Driver Permitting  has Moved to a New Location
Effective Tuesday, July 8, 2008 all Taxi Driver permits and applications for Special  Transportation Services will be handled through the Handitran Office located at 1101 W. Main Street.

The Vital Statistics Division of Community Services Wins Five-Star State Award 
The City of Arlington, TX, (pop. 332,969) Vital Statistics Division has been recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services for its performance in reporting births, deaths and other important information. The Five-Star Award is distributed to local registrar offices, including city secretaries, county clerks and county health departments, according to Deputy Local Registrar/Vital Statistic Coordinator Elbia Hernandez.
Judges critique and evaluate timeliness, customer service, application of technology, training, and accuracy of filing, Hernandez said. Arlington’s vital statistics office issues birth and death certificates, amends certificates, and records name changes and court-ordered adoptions. The office is a division of the Community Services Department.

Citizens are urged to take precautions and to remember the "Four D's" to help protect against West Nile Virus. Recent rainfall increases the chances of standing water. Drain flowerpots, bird baths and more to help prevent growth of mosquito larvae.
