DISPOSAL :: CLEANUP DAY

9 a.m. — 4 p.m.
Please take items such as trash, brush, tires, furniture, carpet,
lumber, appliances and old auto batteries to any of the following
sites:
- Arlington Sanitary Landfill
800 Mosier Valley Road
- Six Flags Hurricane Harbor
1800 E. Lamar Blvd.
- Sam Houston High School
2000 Sam Houston Drive
Note: Due to unavailability, there is not a drop off site in west
Arlington.

Cleanup Day Rules

Proof of Arlington Residency is required
- a
current driver’s license with Arlington address or current water
bill. |

Please
be sure that items you are transporting to the sites are tied
down and covered.

No contractors.

No children will be allowed on the sites.

No household hazardous waste;
no paint, no pesticides, no motor oil. For information on how to
properly dispose of household hazardous waste, call Community
Services at 817-459-6777.

Questions
- Question: If I am unable to come to
the Cleanup Day, will you let me dump at no charge on another
day?
Answer: No. Arlington residents may bring items to the
landfill anytime, but the regular fees will be charged. For
pickup trucks and trailers less than 8’, the fee is only $6.00
for Arlington residents.
- Question: Will you accept large pieces
of old concrete at the cleanup event?
Answer: Yes, we will also accept other scrap building
materials such as lumber, brick and sheetrock.
- Question: Will you accept old tires at
the cleanup event?
Answer: Yes, but there is a limit of four tires per
household. If you have more than four you may bring them to the
landfill and dispose of them for a fee.
- Question: Is this event for Arlington
residents only?
Answer: Yes and proof of Arlington residency is required. A
current driver’s license or water bill with an Arlington
address must be shown upon entering the cleanup day site.
- Question: Will you accept old paint or
motor oil at the cleanup event?
Answer: No, household hazardous waste including cooking oil
may be taken to the Environmental Collection Center located at
6400 Bridge Street in Fort Worth, 817-871-5257. There is no charge as long as
you bring proof of Arlington residency. The center is open
weekly on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 am to 7 pm and on
Saturdays from 9 am to 3 pm.
- Question: We are remodeling our home;
will you accept old carpeting, flooring, kitchen sinks,
counter tops, etc. at the cleanup event?
Answer: Yes, the cleanup event is a city wide beautification
effort to encourage citizens to cleanup around their homes and
bring us their hard-to-get-rid-of items such as: old carpet,
appliances, scrap metal, whole trees limbs, old fence panels,
old lawn mowers (please drain fuel), old barbeque pits (no
butane cylinders), lumber, concrete, brick, tires, auto
batteries and furniture.
- Question: Where can I take old butane
or propane cylinders?
Answer: Amerigas located at 6801 Mitchell Parkway will take
them free of charge. They are located in SE Arlington and may be
reached at 817-467-1727.
- Question: Do you recycle any of the
items received at the cleanup event?
Answer: Yes, we recycle tires, lead acid batteries, scrap
metal including appliances, brush and tree limbs.
- Question: Do you make mulch from the
tree limbs and brush? If so, is that mulch available free of
charge to the citizens of Arlington?
Answer: Tree trimmings disposed of at the cleanup events are
recycled and processed at the landfill. Mulch produced from the
Fall and Spring Cleanup Day events is stockpiled at the landfill
and is available to Arlington residents at no charge.
- Question: When is the next cleanup
event?
Answer: Arlington cleanup events are held semi-annually in
April and October. They are advertised in your March and
September water bills.
